High speed broadband ISP Review
Since high speed broadband connection is very popular today, there is a lot of ISP also that were established to provide this service. An ISP or Internet Service Provider is company that takes care of the installation and maintenance of a high speed broadband connection. There are different kinds of connection which they offer it can be DSL, Cable, Wireless and the like.
So a review was conducted to see if these ISPs were able to deliver what there advertisement says. The review was based on the ISP’s connection reliability, overall satisfaction of the customer, upload and download speed, technical support, customer service, e-mail service and value which include the performance and the price. So according to the review conducted, there were 58% who are using cable and 38% is comprised of DSL users. The rest is comprised of users of fiber-optic FiOS connections.
Even if VoIP seems to be so popular the review reveals that only 27% of high speed broadband users are utilizing it. In the ISPs advertisements there is a specific speed that a user’s computer must receive when connected to the Internet. But is this achieved? According to the review, it is not achieved. Since there are a lot of users who have high-speed broadband connection the tendency is that each computer will struggle for its bandwidth. Only 20% stated that their ISPs were able to deliver the speed promised. The percentage of the users that were not able to receive the speed promised is 64% and the rest had no opinion about it.
The scenario of not getting the speed that was promised cannot be avoided. Since there are millions if Internet users and each ISP cater to thousands of users the sharing of the bandwidth happens. If one server caters to hundreds or thousands of computers then the obvious thing that would happen is that the connection will slow down. But it will slow down to a point that you cannot access the Internet, high speed broadband connection fulfills the needs of the clients. That is why technical support is provided for the customer because the ISPs know that problems can arise.
So far when it comes to the ISP’s download speed 36% rated it excellent and 37% rated good, 20% average, 6% poor and 1% very poor. With the statistics shown this means that the high speed broadband connection can still deliver what was promised though not all the time. According to the review, Cable provides faster connection than DSL. Cable connection was able to beat DSL in the following categories upload speed, download speed and connection reliability. But when it comes to the overall winner FiOS is the fastest broadband connection, while Cable comes second and DSL is the last.
In conclusion, Comcast, Cox Communications and Time Warner provide a cable broadband connection. Verizon DSL and AT&T provide DSL broadband. According to the respondents they are more satisfied with the cable connection especially in the speed category. The three cable companies were able to satisfy the customers when it comes to connection reliability, upload speed and download speed.
